Luang Prabang is an outstanding example of the fusion of traditional architecture and Lao urban structures with those built by the European colonial authorities in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Day 01- Arrival - Vientiane ( no meal )
Will be met at Wattay Airport and transfer to your hotel. And then we start city tour, begin with the oldest, Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo,
which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. En route to
Lao's national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph. The final visit of the day will be the excellent COPE
exhibition centre, highlighting a much overlooked aspect of Laos and a
major problem many of the local people face on a day to day basis in the
form of unexploded ordnance as a result of heavy bombing campaigns
during the Vietnam War area.
Day 02 - Vientiane - Luang Prabang (Breakfast only)
After
breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Luang Prabang. Will
be met and transfer to your hotel, after short relax we start the tour,
visit the Royal Palace Museum which hosts a range of
interesting artifacts and a guided audio tour. We then begin our temple
tour taking in some the cities most beautiful, including the
magnificent Wat Xiengthong, with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, representing the classical Luang Prabang style, as well as Wat Mai and Wat Visoun, known as 'The Water Melon Stupa' due to its shape. In the afternoon we visit the excellent Arts and Ethnology Centre which gives us a further insight into the ethnic mix and culture of Laos. Our final stop of the day is a climb Mt Phousi, which offers a spectacular sunset and a panoramic view over Luang Prabang and the Mekong River. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 03 - Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave (Breakfast only)
After
breakfast, we board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which gives
us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside. Continue cruise up the
stream for pay respect to the Buddha at the mysterious Pak Ou Caves,
two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha
statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Then visit the
village of Ban Muang Kaew, after that We then across
the Mekong to the local restaurant for lunch, return to Luang Prabang
en route visit the weaving and textile villages of Ban Xangkhong and Ban Xienglek. We then drive back to Luang Prabang by late afternoon. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 04 - Luang Prabang - Kuangsi Water fall - Vientiane (Breakfast only)
After breakfast, we visit the local Phosi Market, this is the place where all the locals shop and your guide will show you the diverse offerings on display. We also stop at Ock Pop Tock,
a silk weaving centre. Here you will be given a guided tour and the
silk weaving process will be explained. We then drive out of the town
where you have the option of stopping to visit Khmu, Hmong and Lao Loum
villages, representing the main ethnic groups of Laos. This then takes
us to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can
cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest
trails. We then return to Luang Prabang by lunchtime. Pick up at the air
port transfer to your hotel.
Day 05 - Vientiane - Departures (Breakfast only)
After
breakfast, make purchases at Talat Sao (Morning Market): embroidered
fabrics, silver jewelry, carved wooden objects, memories that will
satisfy the desires of each and transfer to airport.
