Introduction

Sabah have been blessed with beautiful nature especially the jungles and its surrounding. Take part in our 3 day-treks, learning survival skills and wild camping. Trekking routes follow narrow jungle and village trails, crossing suspension bridges and rivers. Local expert jungle guides will share their knowledge of the jungle and teach you how to use the forest to survive. Interactive sessions on bamboo craft show the amazing versatility of the flora and fauna of the forest.



Itinerary

Day 1 –  Arrival Kota Kinabalu (No Meals)

Meet and greet with our friendly representative at KKIA. Proceed to check in to the hotel and free at own leisure for the day.

DAY 2 (B / L / D)

0800hrs : Our friendly representative will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to The Adventure Centre, (TAC) located in the serine and picturesque Kiulu Valley (approx. 60 min by mini-van). If you are fortunate the weather will give up spectacular views of the World Heritage Mountain, Kinabalu. This Mountain stands over 4000 meters above sea level, and is globally renowned for its stunning summit vista, and is locally of huge spiritual significance.

0900hrs : Arrive at The Adventure Centre. Meet your jungle guide who will orientate you around the Adventure Centre facilities, they will also provide you with a full safety briefing on your Jungle adventure and itinerary plan.

0945hrs : Time to head into the jungle, your trek will take you through local Kampong’s (villages) and over hanging bridges of the Kiulu River, you will be trek along established jungle trails, as you walk your guide will teach you about the ethnobotony of the forest here in the Kiulu valley. The guide will show you fruits and plants that are edible, and plants that are used for medicinal purposes, this knowledge past down from generation to generation and still widely used today. *Whether you are in the villages or the forest or crossing the hanging bridge photography enthusiasts will not be disappointed.

1200hrs : Arrive at Jungle campsite - This location is a genuine forest training camp used by International Jungle expedition groups. Your guide will then demonstrate the basic skills needed for comfortable jungle living, “making the forest your home”. Your guide will show you how to hang a hammock (sleeping in the jungle is incredible and like no other experience, but you do need to know how to tie the hammock up!), how to use a parang, chop fire wood, light a fire and then cook a basic meal. Rest here a while and enjoy the sounds, smells and sights of Sabah, Borneo. The guide will then demonstrates how to create the basic equipment you might need or want from the bamboo growing throughout the forest. From chopsticks and spoons to Huts and homes bamboo can be your best friend.

1500hrs : Start to create your own Jungle home at the campsite, hang your hammock and prepare the fire and evening meal; your guide will assist throughout the afternoon. Take a jungle “mandi” (shower) in the river at the camp, refreshing jungle streams are the ideal way to relax and refresh after a day the humid jungle environment.

1800hrs : Evening meal in the Jungle, sit around the fire, your guide will tell you about the Sabah Jungle taboos and the ancient Head hunter history of this incredible island. The evening is then your own, rest, relax and listen to the jungle sounds, watch out for fire flies around the camp, as the flames dance in the fire and your eyes begin to get sleepy feel free to climb into your hammock and gently swing yourself to sleep as the jungle chorus sings away.


DAY 3 (B / L / D)

0645hrs : Wake up ready for another Adventure day here in Sabah.

0730hrs : Once you have started your fire, enjoy a simple breakfast in the jungle prepared with the help of your guide, then pack up the hammocks and ready yourselves for your days trek to Kalani Jungle camp .

0900hrs : Time to trek out and onward to your final camp destination, along the way your guide will again point out the local ethnobotany of the Kiulu valley. Photographing the sites and or asking the guide to take those precious pictures of you “doing it” are no problem. Today you will be trekking again at a slow and steady pace, enjoy the surroundings, (if you want to stop and just take it all in your guide will not mind, just ask!).

1200hrs : A light lunch on the trail.

1245hrs : Continue trekking to Kalani jungle camp, once there you will hang your hammock, and make the camp your home for your final night in the jungle.

1500hrs : Rest & Relax in the camp, enjoy a refreshing river “Mandi”, the best way to refresh and relax after a day trekking in the jungle. Or wait until after dark and have a candle lit version!

1700hrs : Prepare and light your fire and then begin to cook dinner with your guide.

1900hrs : Simply rest & relax, enjoy being in Borneo, living with nature.


DAY 4 (B / L)

0630hrs : Wake up and ready for the days new Adventure

0700hrs : Breakfast with your guide, followed by packing up all the equipment in readiness to trek out the Jungle.

0800hrs : Leave the Jungle camp and trek along the river returning to the Adventure centre.

0900hrs : Arrival back at TAC where you will be able to freshen up and hand back in your jungle equipment.

0930hrs : You will now be introduced to your Zip Borneo instructor team, followed by a full safety and activity plan briefing. You will be instructed in Wall climbing, Abseiling, the High ropes agility course and the ultimate Ropes and rigging activity, Borneo’s “only” DOUBLE zip line.

1145hrs : Your activities now completed feel free to take a shower and change into some clean clothes, a delicious lunch is waiting for you to enjoy.

1300hrs : The time has come to say goodbye, waiting transport will transfer you back to Kota Kinabalu (approx. 60 minutes) to the airport for your departure flight home. (Advisable to get later flight ie 1900hrs and above).
