Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Sandakan (No Meal)
Meet and greet services at Sandakan Airport and transfer to Four Points by Sheraton Hotel and check in. Free at own leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Breakfast at the hotel. 0945hrs meet at hotel hobby and transfer to jetty for Schedule boat depart 10:15-10:30hrs to Selingan Island. The journey to Island take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. On arrival, register at the Turtle Island Parks HQ and check into chalet. After lunch at cafeteria, free at own leisure e.g. swimming or snorkeling. After dinner, wait for the ranger\\\'s call to observe turtle laying eggs. Transferring of the eggs to the Hatchery and if there is any young turtle hatchlings, an opportunity to observe the release of the turtles to the sea. Overnight at chalet (Attached Bathroom).
Remarks:
1. Before going for dinner, make sure all important things are with you. Do not go back to your room. In any time - rangers will call for turtle program.
2. The Selingan Island chalet is about 500m away from the beach. There is NO PORTER at the island. Therefore, you have to carry your own luggage from the boat to your chalet. We highly advise you to re-pack your clothing for your duration stay in order to have a more comfortable stay at Selingan Island.\\\" We have luggage room available at our jetty - NO CHARGE.
IMPORTANT:
1. Please take note - Sabah Park allow only camera of unaided flash to take photograph of the turtle.Video / Digital Video Cameras not allowed.
2. The Sabah Parks also forbid visitor from going around the island on their own from 6:00pm To 6:00am.
Day 3 – Selingan / Sepilok / By Boat to Abai Jungle Lodge / PM & Night Cruise (B / L / D)
Depart Island at 0700hrs. Arrive Sandakan jetty and drive for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform. 10:00 hrs feeding of Orang Utans. At this center, observe man’s closest relative “the Orang Utan” being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. visit to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the centre that managed to improve the living condition of the rescued sun bear and released their natural behaviors in the 2.5ha enclosed forest. 11:15hrs, Depart centre transfer to jetty in Sandakan. 11:45hrs, depart jetty take an hour boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary, This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. Check in Abai Jungle Lodge, Late in the afternoon, you\\\'ll be experiencing a cruise to search for wildlife until the sunsets while enjoying a cup of coffee and by night falls continue the night cruise to witness the fire flies as Christmas tree. Return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, again experience the “Jungle at night” at our nature boardwalk to search for birds, snakes, insects and other wildlife with our nature guide.
Day 4 – Oxbow Lake / Tree Planting / Lunch with Locals / Menanggul Cruise (B / L / D)
Wake up by the calls of nature. Early morning take a river trip to Pitas Lake to observe wildlife and experience the unique of Pitas Lake. After breakfast, you are invited to join our tree planting project with the locals, enjoy a simple lunch arranged by the villagers at Abai village. This project specially design to help the locals. After lunch, cruise up river to Sukau village in search of primates especially the wild Orang Utan, birds, pygmy elephant and other wildlife. Arrive Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon, take another river cruise to Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Return lodge for dinner and overnight at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.
Day 5 – Sukau / Lahad Datu / Tabin Wildlife Reserve (B / L / D)
After breakfast, check out and from Sukau overland to Lahad Datu Town for approximately 2 ½ hours journey. You will be picked up in the east coast town of Lahad Datu and transferred by road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve (1:30 hrs). Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, which comes complete with private balcony, air conditioner, ceiling fan and hot water shower, a welcome luxury in the forest. Nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad river, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort. Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments. Visit to Trogon Hall gallery for information about the conservation of Tabin Wildlife Reserve and briefing on birds, insects and animals that is found in this area. (For guest check in before 11:00am) In the afternoon, visit the active Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife. After trekking through the rainforest for 20 minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. The adventurous can try the effects of the volcanic mud, said to be responsible for a fine complexion. Trek back to the resort along elephant trail. After dinner, enjoy a CD/Slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear, dark sky of Tabin, identify the constellations above you and make a wish or two.
Day 6 – Tabin Wildlife Reserve (B / L / D)
Join the early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of more than 300 species of birds. After breakfast, a drive to the core area for animal’s spotting and for photo session before trekking through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. Alternatively explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax. In the afternoon, try out the Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak made with a natural blend of herbs, to relax tired muscles after long jungle treks. In the evening, a dusk drive to look out for more nocturnal wildlife & birds coming out to look for food during this time of the day. After dinner, go for a night walk along the trail nearby the resort in search of sleeping birds, frog and nocturnal wildlife.
Day 7 – Tabin Wildlife Reserve / Kota Kinabalu / Bunga Raya Island Resort (B / L / D)
After breakfast, free and easy until check out. You may opt to take up a dawn drive or jungle walk to look out for wildlife that is active at this time of the day. Transfer to Lahad Datu airport.
Meet and greet at Kota Kinabalu International Airport and transfer to Jesselton jetty for boat ride to Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa. Free at own leisure. Overnight at the resort.
Day 8 – Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa (B)
Breakfast at the resort. Free at own leisure. Overnight at the resort.
Day 9 – Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa (B)
Breakfast at the resort. Free at own leisure. Overnight at the resort.
Day 10 – Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa (B)
Breakfast at the resort. Free at own leisure. Overnight at the resort.
Day 11 – Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa / Depart Kota Kinabalu (B)
Breakfast at the resort. Free at own leisure. 1200hrs check out time. Depart back to the mainland and transfer to KKI Airport for flight back.
